“The big man, with beady evil eyes, holding a rope in his hand peeps through a well-placed hole in the wall into the darkened room where the weary unsuspecting soon-to-be victim lies in the comfort of his bed. A sliver of light from the almost full moon piercing through a small gap in the boarded shutters is just enough to let his peering eyes see when...    

 

 

    The travelers had vanished in this wilderness and the circumstances had proven to be the perfect setting to allow it all to take place with impunity. If anyone at the time actually knew who was involved and what had happened to the victims and their belongings, they never told - at least no one outside their wicked ring. They took their secrets with them to their final resting place… if they are indeed resting?

...As he gazed down to take a closer look, his knees weakened and he felt his body flush. He pulled hard on his mules and hollered for them to stop, but before they did, he struck the second object. He looked down again. There before him were two skulls… seeming to stare directly at him.
